Save Time in Lines at Disney with Rope Drop

What is Rope Drop?

Or, how to

Make the most of your morning in the Disney Parks with this fan favorite strategy.

If you’re planning your first trip to Disneyland or Disney World, or if it’s been a while, you might hear regular park goers telling you to Rope Drop.

What the heck does that even mean?

First, Rope Drop is a term used by Disney fans that means to arrive at the park before it opens.

While there is a daily official park open time, guests planning on Rope Dropping often line up at the gates up to 1 hour before. The gates are usually opened before the official time and guests can come in to the park - up to a certain point.

Cast members stand at the stopping points with a rope where guests wait until the park is officially opened. Just a few moments before opening, they’ll take the rope down and once the park opening announcement begins to play, guests can make their way to the attraction of their choosing.

Hence, the term Rope Drop.

There’s nothing like the excitement and hype of being in the park when it opens and then if you’re lucky and on top of things, on the first ride vehicle of the day.

Other than that, is it worth the early wakeup call?

Watch this video that briefly explains the process and benefit of Rope Drop.
