Is it worth it? Here's why you should use a Disney Travel Agent
Expert Travel Advisor Cathy Weiss chimes in with a story that answers the question -
Is it worth using a Disney Travel Agent?
Recently a friend of a satisfied client booked a free 45-minute Plan your Magic call with me about her upcoming trip to Walt Disney World.
It turns out she had already booked her trip through a travel agency in her home country of Australia.
But she was having trouble understanding linking her reservation to the MDE (My Disney Experience) app and being able to book her Lightning Lanes.
Her frustration grew as she repeatedly asked for her confirmation numbers from the agency only to be told they’d get that to in her a few weeks.
Sadly, there wasn’t anything I could do to help her because her trip was already booked through someone else.
I did offer a few tips and explained when she could purchase Genie + and select Lightning Lanes.
She was grateful for the few tips I could pass along, assuring me next time she plans a Disney vacation she’ll reach out to me BEFORE booking.
Here’s the WORST part -
lLterally the next day Disney announced upcoming changes to Genie + including a name change to Lightning Lane Mult Pass and when guests can select their first three Lightning Lanes!
Because she wasn’t my client I wasn’t obligated to make sure she was aware of or understood the changes. I can only hope and send good vibes her agent is making sure she knows how the change will affect her trip.
Is it worth using a Disney Travel Agent? Here’s the value they provide at no additional cost to you.
What your agent, planner, or advisor is expected to do:
→ Make your Disney or Good Neighbor hotel or resort reservations and purchase park tickets separately or as a package, as instructed by you.
→ Remind you of payment deadlines and process your payments in a timely manner.
→Answer your questions or concerns about hotel arrangements and/or admission tickets and process any changes you might need.
→ Let you know if Disney announces any notices regarding your hotel like refurbishments or changes to admission tickets.
→ Not only find you the best rate available at time of booking, but also watch out for new savings and discounts that may apply to your vacation. Sometimes this can result in hundreds of dollars of savings!
→ Enter any room requests you might have such as location, bed configuration, or connecting or adjoining rooms. Note that it is ONLY your agent’s responsibility to enter the request. While Disney does their best to accommodate guests, it isn’t guaranteed you will get your request based on availability.
Best of all? These servcies are included with your booking and do NOT cost anything extra. That’s right - it’s FREE.
What your agent, planner, or advisor MIGHT do:
→ Make dining suggestions and reservations.
→ Make Enchanting Extras reservations.
→ Provide app tutorials or make sure you know how to navigate the app associated with your vacation.
→ Make sure you know how to get Lightning Lanes and Virtual Queues.
→ Answer logistical questions such as transportation to and from the parks and park operations.
→ Offer tips and suggestions based on their own experience for rides, shows, and strategies for navigating the parks.
Anything that goes beyond what is expected from your agent is solely based on how they choose to deliver customer service. Some agents may charge a fee for those additional services
Always make sure to discuss or be clear on what additional services your Disney Travel Agent will (or will not) provide, and that you’re comfortable with what they offer.
