[Honest Review] Castle Yoga at Disneyland

The 2024 Halloween Half Marathon Weekend at Disneyland kicked off with a special yoga event in front of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle on Thursday, September 5 and we were there!

This review includes event details, logistics, our experience, and if I’d recommend this event if it returns next year.

Event Details:

✅ One-hour, instructor-led yoga experience

✅ Yoga mat, mat carrying strap, and small hand towel to bring home with you

✅ Complimentary water

✅ Special photo opportunities

✅ Unlimited digital downloads of Disney PhotoPass photos taken throughout the event

General registration opened at 7am Pacific on February 13, 2024 and the event sold out in a few hours.

The registration fee was $130 per person. This was a separately ticketed event and you had to exit the park after it was over.

Tickets were non-refundable and non-transferrable. We had to show our event pass and ID to get our wristbands.

Honest Review + Our Experience

I was a little nervous when I saw that 3:30 security opens time! But My Foolish Mortal and I planned ahead and set ourselves up for a smooth morning the night before.

We set out our clothes, prepped the in-room coffee maker, had an early 5pm dinner, and snuggled up in bed by 7pm.

We chose to stay at the Grand Californian because of how close it is to Disneyland’s main gate and because it has its own security checkpoint. Shorter lines than at the Downtown Disney or Harbor Blvd. checkpoints meant getting a little extra sleep and arriving at the ticket booth faster.

We planned on sleeping until 2:55am, but of course I was so amped that I was awake and antsy by 2:45!

We hopped out of bed right as the alarm went off and as I peeked out towards the castle from our balcony I could see the searchlights shining brightly. There was already a bubble of joyful anticipation in my heart.

A quick splash of water on our faces as My Foolish Mortal handled the coffee and I put a little makeup on got us out the door just after 3:20 am.

There were a handful of people in line at security as we arrived and things got moving right at 3:30am. We were through quickly and did the “Disney power walk” to the ticket booths where a decent amount of people had already arrived. We were inside the switch back queue as it quickly filled up and spilled over shortly after we got there.

We checked in, had our wristbands and were excitedly strolling down Main Street, U.S.A. around 4:10am. It was so beautiful that early in the morning.

Experience it with me in real time right here:

As we entered through the right-hand tunnel we could see two PhotoPass locations. There was also a third on the other side of the flagpole.

Since everything was going so smoothly and there was only one couple in line we decided to hop in and get our pictures.

The stroll down Main Street was exciting and gorgeous, with yoga-inspired mandalas lit up on the buildings, mats perfectly lined up down the center of the street, and plenty of smiling, helpful cast members along the way. I was so grateful for them being out there that early for us.

Because we got our butts out of bed, through security, and checked in so early, we got a spot in the last row right in front of the castle. It was gorgeous - lit up with mandalas and the event logo.

Bonus! The late summer weather was perfect.

There was plenty of time to take pictures, soak in the ambiance, and use the restroom before class started.

Right at 6:00am, two event hosts came out to kick off the weekend. Goofy joined them in his skeleton Halloween costume for a quick interaction, and then class started.

The instructor was perfect. She spoke clearly and gave simple instructions. The pace was slow and doable as we gently moved through a few sun salutations and standing poses. She offered two options for most poses: something simpler and something with more challenge for anyone interested.

Then, we did a series of stretches perfect for anyone doing runs later in the weekend. Class finished with us lying down for a short rest.

As a highly qualified yoga instructor with over 25 years of experience, I thought her class was spot on. It was safe and accessible to a wide range of participants and felt really great. Even My Foolish Mortal, who isn’t an avid yoga person, said it was perfect and that he would do it again.

Do I recommend Castle Yoga at Disneyland?

Yes! I give this event a 10/10.

So does My Foolish Mortal.

We’re planning on going back in 2025 if it’s offered again.
