[Honest Review] Cake Bake Shop at Disney's Boardwalk

The Cake Bake Shop® Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers is a new table-service restaurant with glistening cocktails and a specially curated menu.

If you're looking for a tasty dining experience at Disney World's Boardwalk, The Cake Bake Shop is a must-visit destination. Known for its whimsical decor, savory menu options, and indulgent desserts, this restaurant combines elegance with a touch of bonus Disney magic.

First Impressions: All the Glitter

The moment I stepped inside The Cake Bake Shop, I noticed all the sparkle. Everything has glitter and shine. The decor is pretty without quite being over the top, with sparkling chandeliers, pastel tones, and intricate details that make every corner Instagram-worthy. It’s the perfect spot for a special meal or even just to snap a few photos in the bakery side.

My Lunch Experience

Mint Tea

Since it was a cool day, I started my meal with a pot of Menthe Poivree/Mint Tea. Served in an elegant teapot with matching fine china and a charming tag, the tea was just right.

Choose Two: French Onion Soup & Chicken Salad Sandwich

For lunch, I opted for the "Choose Two" menu option, which includes these options: Your choice of two half portions of the following items in any combination: Turkey & Gruyère Sandwich | French Ham & Brie Sandwich | Chicken Salade Croissant | Cup of Soupe | Lemon Caesar Salade | Blackberry Avocado Salade

  • French Onion Soup
This classic soup was rich and flavorful, featuring caramelized onions in a savory broth topped with melted Gruyere cheese and a crusty bread topping. It was rich, warm and comforting—a perfect choice for any fan of French onion.

  • Chicken Salade Croissant
The sandwich was served on a perfectly delicious croissant with an outstanding chicken salad filling that was perfectly seasoned. Paired with  a fresh arugula salad on the side, it made for a light yet satisfying dish. I was full without feeling stuffed or blorky.

Desserts: Everything Sparkles

Since I was perfectly full and on a solo lunch date, I  didn’t order dessert. But I couldn’t help noticing the table of four adults next to me did:

  • Chocolate Cake
Coming in at $23, this massive slice of cake is meant to be shared. Topped with gold luster dust and chocolate pearls, it looked like a true showstopper. Asking how it was, the response was “Ok. The cake part is a bit dry and the fondant really thick. But the ganache filling was outstanding.”

  • Lemon Bar
The lemon bar was vibrant and beautifully presented, like all the other treats, it was topped with shimmery edible glitter plus powdered sugar dusting. According to my neighbors, this one was much better and something they’d order again. It got devoured while there were remnants of the chocolate cake left behind. Always telling, but of course, everyone has different tastes and preferences.

Their reactions were on par with other reviews and when I go back again with someone to share dessert with the Raspberry Jam Crumble Bar is at the top of my must-try list.

Bonus Disney Magic: A Surprise and Delight

This review wouldn’t be complete without highlighting the outstanding and attentive service.

While I skipped dessert, my wonderful, friendly server noticed I was wearing a Celebration Button because I’d been selected to join my host agency’s Elite Agent team. He asked what that meant and I explained, “I’m in the top 1% of Mainstreet Travel’s agents for my knowledge and expertise as an Expert Travel Advisor specializing in Disney Vacations and we’re kicking the year off with an Elite Agent retreat here at Walt Disney World.”

To make my celebration extra special, he brought me out a small dish of ice cream topped with a glittery gold candle.  He told me all about the lore of the dragon,  then filled my hands with dragon pixie dust which I got to blow out my candle with.

Fun! And glitter everywhere!!
